The landscape of the delta has a singular beauty and a unique character in Catalonia, with water as the main protagonist. It is a plain of just barely over one meter in height above sea level. Inland we can find crop-growing areas and especially extensive rice fields. In the coastal area are large lagoons, canals, marshes, salt marshes, dunes and beaches.
The Ebro Delta has a high biodiversity and fish wealth, with more than 700 plant species and 330 bird species. The flamingo colonies abound especially in the Tancada lagoon and in the Trinitat salt lake.
The Natural Park offers visitors a wide and varied range of activities and itineraries to discover the most interesting places on foot, bike, canoe, horseback or 4x4 car.
Declared Partial Nature Reserve, with restricted access, the small peninsula of La Banya is the jewel of the park. It lies on the southern edge, attached to the delta across the Isthmus of Trabucador. Delimits the Alfacs Bay, the largest natural harbor in Europe.
The Fangar is a peninsula of 410 ha located in the northern part of the Ebro delta. The main characteristics are the formations of mobile and fixed dunes, the best preserved of the Catalan coast. It is accessible through a compacted sand track which takes to the Fangar Lighthouse or to the extremity of the peninsula.
