The Railway Museum actively and innovatively shows the universe of the train and its importance in the contemporary world. The objective of the institution is to reveal the history of this mode of transport from 1848 to the present day and to preserve the Catalan railway heritage.

It is located right next to the railway station, inside the former locomotive depot of Vilanova i la Geltrú, an industrial building of great historical interest, built at the end of the 19th century. The museum has the most important collection of steam locomotives in Europe, with 28 locomotives manufactured in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Highlights

✔ The collection of vehicles, of all times and technologies, coming from several countries. Among the 50 vehicles we find electric, diesel, steam locomotives, and passenger cars of various types.
✔ The rondhouse, a complex of industrial railway architecture consisting of a semicircular building where the steam locomotives are stored, the rotating bridge and three water tanks for the supply of the machines.
✔ The XXI Century Area, where the visitors can learn about new railway technologies, especially the High-speed railway.
