Documented since the year 1002, significant reforms carried out in the 14th century have transformed Montsoriu in an impregnable castle - palace, residence of the viscounts of the house of Cabrera, one of of the leading families of the Principality of Catalonia. After changing the owner many times and suffering the consequences of the wars, the castle it was left practically in ruins. The Regional Council of La Selva, the current owner, is carried out since 1995 various restoration works.
The castle of Montsoriu can be visited on weekends throughout the year. To get there you have to hike on foot through a 2.8 km forest trail.
✔ The keep. From the roof of the tower, the highest point of the enclosure, visitors enjoy a breathtaking 360 degree panoramic view.
